Smooth skin reflects light evenly; rough texture and visible pores scatter it, making skin look dull even when tone is good. Texture issues come from the skin's surface and the collagen just beneath it — old acne damage, sun exposure, oil-stretched pores and slowing cell turnover all leave the surface uneven. Because pores themselves have no muscles, they can't "close" — but firming the collagen around each pore makes them appear smaller and the surface smoother.

At 70, I went in for a ButteryFly FaceLift with low expectations. Hey, I'm 70, worked hard owning our own business and spent a lot of time in the sun when I was young. But Jim has proven me wrong. Recently went to Newport Beach Skin Tightening for a scar removal treatment with Jim, and I’m honestly really happy with my experience. The treatment included microneedling and another add-on (can’t remember the name!), but the whole thing was painless thanks to Jim’s strong numbing cream. After first session, I can already see my acne scars softening and blending into my skin. My skin feels smoother, and I’m starting to get my confidence back, excited to see the results and will update after my second visit. Can enlarged pores actually get smaller?+
Pores can't physically close, but they can look significantly smaller. Firming the collagen around each pore tightens its walls, and refining the surface reduces the shadowing that makes pores visible. The change is in appearance — which is what matters in the mirror.
How does RF microneedling improve texture?+
The micro-channels trigger your skin's repair response while radiofrequency energy heats the deeper layers, remodeling old collagen and stimulating new. Over the following weeks the surface rebuilds smoother and more even.
How many sessions will I need?+
Most clients see the best results from 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on how much textural change you're starting with.
Is it safe for darker skin tones?+
